As part of your personal wastewater treatment plant project, it is important to know:
- which administrative steps you must follow;
- which obligations are required for the installation;
- which are the maintenance requirements.

When should we place an individual wastewater treatment plant: the individual treatment area (Wallonie)

In Wallonie, according to the Code de l'eau, the "P.A.S.H. (plans d'assainissement par sous-bassin hydrographique)" specifies areas where:
- houses are connected to a collective treatment sewer;
- houses are located in an individual treatment area (zone d'épuration individuelle ou autonome);
- houses are located in an transition area, intended to move towards collective or individual treatment area.

Only houses located in an individual treatment area (zone d'épuration individuelle ou autonome) are concerned by the individual wastewater treatment plants:
- new houses must be equipped immediately;
- delayed obligation of Equipment for existing houses.
